My youngest daughter is a pint sized version of Captain Jack Sparrow. Only she blonde hair, most of her teeth (at least the ones that have grown in…she’s 2) and does not wear eye liner. She truly believes that she is a very small pirate and has the bedroom (and bath toys) to prove it. Her 2nd birthday was pirate themed…and her 3rd birthday probably will be too. It seems to be ‘her’ niche.
A couple days ago, when she told me she was a ‘scurvy pirate’, I set to work figuring out a cure her ailments. A cupcake with orange frosting was the first thing I thought of. If you’re planning a pirate themed birthday party, this would be a really cute idea (with Pirate Flags in them, of course). The frosting was an orange cream cheese frosting and although I REALLY don’t like powdered sugar frostings, I think the cream cheese really cut the sweetness with this one and it was truly delicious.
I bring you a Dark Chocolate Cupcake with Orange Cream Cheese frosting:
Sooooo Pretty.
And soooo yummy.
Lastly, if you’re wondering where my 2 year old learned ‘scurvy pirate’:
